Police seek views on community initiative

A scheme which brings the Bobby on the beat back into the centre of the community is going out to consultation.

Police in the west of the Island say they are keen to build on the positive relationship they have with the public, and ensure people feel safe.

To this end, officers already have individual ownership of areas, under the 'Name in Every Neighbourhood' project.

Questionnaires have been distributed to businesses in Peel, and members of the public are being encouraged to pick up forms from the local police station.

Inspector Mark Britton from the Western Neighbourhood Policing Team says the highly localised policing is popular with the community, and effective (play attached audio file):
