KSF case in court again

by isleofman.com 19th February 2009
Kaupthing Singer and Friedlander depositors will find out more about the Manx government’s proposed Scheme of Arrangement today.

The liquidation case comes back to court in Douglas this morning, when the Treasury is expected to unveil more details about its scheme to repay small depositors more quickly.

Tynwald approved the scheme earlier this week, but it will be up to Deputy Deemster Andrew Corlett whether or not to allow the provisional liquidator and the depositors to decide if it’s preferable to winding up the failed bank.

Today’s hearing will be the third time the government has tried to stave off liquidation while it comes up with the scheme.

At the last hearing, Deemster Corlett gave Attorney General John Corlett until today to provide the court and interested parties with more details.

In particular, small depositors and large insurance companies with money in KSF want to know how the payments would be administered, and whether those running the scheme would have the same legal powers as a liquidator.
