'DHSS under too much pressure to cut costs'

There was severe criticism of the impact of cost cutting on the Island's health service during today's budget debate.

North Douglas MHK Bill Henderson said he fully supported the near 6% increase in the DHSS budget, which he said was as it should be, given the paramount importance of the health of the nation.

He said the minister, Eddie Teare, was doing what he could with the budget available, but claimed his department had been put under so much pressure that it was resorting to 'management by blind panic':
