Ramsey reach quarters; Saints go second

by isleofman.com 15th February 2009
Ramsey overcame the spirited challenge of Onchan to book their place in the Cu-Plas FA Cup quarter-finals on Saturday.

The second division side battled hard and held their top flight opponents during a goalless first half.

However, 2004 cup winners Ramsey showed their know-how after the break with goals from Danny Oram (two), John Roberts, Jonathan Leece and Danny Foulis sealing a comfortable 5-0 victory.

A Marc Priestnal double fired St Mary's to an important 2-1 win at Colby to move up to second in the Sure Mobile Premier League.

Dan Kelly was the scorer as the home side produced an encouraging showing but the Saints managed to take the points.

Jamie Moffitt was the match-winner with the only goal of the game as Michael won at Union Mills in what could be a vital three points come the end of the season.

Laxey returned to form in style with a 6-0 romp at Corinthians.

The star of the show was Lee Cowley who hit a hat-trick.

Keith Brown, Justin Hawley and Johnny Baker grabbed the others for the Miners to deepen Corinthians’ relegation worries.
