Watchdog welcomes OFT surcharge probe

A passenger watchdog group has welcomed news the Office of Fair Trading is to investigate the Steam Packet’s fuel surcharge and pricing structures.

TravelWatch is hopeful it will lead to greater transparency and give the public a better understanding of how the surcharge is calculated.

Chairman Brendan O'Friel says that's vital for passengers, who are aware oil prices have dropped dramatically but see no change in the rate charged by the Steam Packet:
