Mary boosts funds for African hospital

A former Isle of Man teacher has returned to the Island to raise money for an operating theatre in Kenya.

Mary Stewart hopes to upgrade facilities at the Koru Hospital, which is the only medical facility for eight kilometres.

Mary, who founded the Koru Hospital Fund, has spent nearly 20 years working on community projects in Kenya and has lived there since 2007.

She believes building an operating theatre would make working in the hospital more attractive to doctors:
