Drunk abused care home staff

by isleofman.com 12th February 2009
A man who drunkenly shouted at staff at a Peel nursing home has been given a suspended jail sentence.

Peter Juan Higgins of Greeba Avenue in Glen Vine admitted using provoking behaviour in the home, where his mother is a patient.

The court was told the 41 year-old went there at 3.45pm on January 16.

He was drunk, and alarmed staff when they heard shouting coming from his mother’s room.

They asked him to leave, but he became abusive.

When he was later arrested at home he told police he couldn’t remember much about the incident but could recall shouting at the matron.

His advocate told the court Higgins was changing his life and had engaged with the drug and alcohol team.

High Bailiff Michael Moyle gave him a four month prison sentence, suspended for two years.
