Man 'disgusted with himself' over phone calls

by isleofman.com 12th February 2009
A man who made threatening phone calls to his father has been told if he makes another, he will go to jail.

Forty-two year-old Stephen Robert Bridson, of Marathon Road in Douglas admitted using provoking behaviour.

The court heard Bridson left a message on December 21 which led his father to call the police, but he had been making similar calls for months.

His advocate told the court the last message was left on the anniversary of his mother’s death, after Bridson had become worried about his father forming a new relationship.

When Bridson was arrested and the tape played back to him, he told officers he was disgusted with himself.

His advocate told the court he had no intention of carrying out any threats against his father and was shocked by the contents of the messages.

High Bailiff Michael Moyle said if there was any repetition of his behaviour, he would be spending time in jail.

Bridson was placed on probation for nine months.
