A man who admitted drunkenly grabbing two teenagers and ordering them to empty their pockets has been jailed for six months.

John Snape, of Highfield Crescent in Onchan admitted affray when he appeared before Deemster Doyle.

The court heard he was at a bus shelter in Lord Street, Douglas when he approached two 15 year-old boys.

He grabbed them by their collars and demanded they gave him what they had.

One of the terrified boys managed to run away and alerted police, but Snape ordered the other to empty his pockets.

The boy only had personal papers on him. Snape took them but returned to the shelter to give them back.

Police officers described him as extremely drunk and incoherent when he was arrested.

Snape said he remembered very little about the incident but accepted the boys would have been scared and said he had been 'a little bit lairy' towards them.

He apologised to them and to the court.

Jailing Snape, Deemster Doyle advised him to seek help for his alcohol problem.
