Dr Kishore promotes benefits of MMR jab

The director of public health believes it's unethical to make any vaccination compulsory.

Dr Parameshwaran Kishore was speaking in the light of the recent increase in cases of measles recorded in the United Kingdom, which could be as a result of a decrease in the uptake of the MMR jab.

Many parents didn't give their children the vaccination because of widely publicised research which claimed there was a link between the jab and autism.

The research has now been discredited and in the United States unvaccinated children are barred from school and their parents could face jail.

However, Dr Kishore believes the answer is not to make MMR jab compulsory, but to convince people of its benefits:
