by isleofman.com 9th February 2009
The Island’s Special Olympics athletes off to a great start at the World Winter Games in America.

After Friday's gruelling 26 hour journey to Boise, Idaho and the opening ceremony on Saturday they got down to business yesterday.

The floor hockey team saw off Austria 4-1, then defeated Japan 2-0 thanks to a brace from Daniel Kelly.

Next they destroyed the USA 7-0 with Andrew Richardson (two) among the scorers and an impressive performance from Chelsea Scott.

The round robin competition then began with the Island up against Costa Rica.
