Packet happy to give more evidence

by isleofman.com 9th February 2009
The Steam Packet is welcoming the news the Select Committee of Tynwald which has been looking into its operation is to take further evidence on its accounts.

In a statement to the madia, the company says it is pleased it will be able to present further written and oral evidence on its profitability and fuel surcharges.

It says it will also "seek to address inaccuracies" in the committee's final report, towards the end of last year.

Steam Packet chief executive Mark Woodward says he is keen to ensure the committee doesn't restrict itself to taking evidence on the company's accounts.

He adds: "The committee's report of November 2008 was mistaken in a number of ways, and I welcome and look forward to the opportunity to be able to recify these misunderstandings, as a matter of public record."
