Man who hanged himself had troubled life

by isleofman.com 5th February 2009
A 33 year-old father of two from Port St Mary took his own life by hanging himself from an attic window, an inquest has heard.

The hearing at Douglas Courthouse was told Kurt Noel Fayle had made five previous attempts to harm himself and was known to be a heavy drinker.

He had a turbulent childhood and was placed in foster care at the age of 14.

Mr Fayle was known to police for much of his life, was banned from driving, had been on probabtion and had been called as a witness in a murder trial.

In a statement to the court, his foster mother Annette Berry said Mr Fayle had struggled to find work or a relationship which made him happy and she was not surprised he took his own life.

Recording a verdict of suicide, coroner Michael Moyle said Kurt's foster parents had invested a lot of time in him and he commended them for their public spiritedness.
