Heavy snow on the hills

by isleofman.com 5th February 2009
The Mountain Road has been closed again, because of snow.

The decision was taken in the past half hour due to the trecherous conditions.

The Emergency Services Joint Control Room describes the amount of snow which has fallen on higher ground as "severe".

The Met Office at Ronaldsway is predicting wintry showers this evening and at first tonight, giving slight accumulations in places.

Skies will clear overnight, allowing a widespread ground frost away from windward coasts, with icy patches on untreated surfaces.

Minimum temperatures will be just above freezing at sea level, but sub-zero over the hills.

Scattered, wintry showers are expected tomorrow and on Saturday.
