The Mountain Road won't be reopening this evening.
Temperatures are currently dropping again (6pm) and gritting the route is having little impact on the frozen conditions.
Inspector Richard Power of the Roads Policing Unit says the situation will be reviewed overnight, and a further decision taken tomorrow morning.
