Man threatened shop staff

Police are appealing for witnesses to a disturbance in which a man threatened shop staff.

It happened around 4.45pm yesterday at the Peter Luis store, at the junction of Duke Street and Lord Street in Douglas.

The man is described as white, in his 40s, of stocky build and around six feet tall.

He was wearing a dark coloured woolly hat with a white pattern, a grey top and cream tracksuit bottoms tucked into grey socks, and black boots.

He is believed to have caused traffic to swerve as he crossed Lord Street.

A man has been detained by police in connection with the incident and remains in custody.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information relating to it is asked to ring police headquarters on 631212 and speak to Constable Paddy Moore.
