The dismissal by Braddan Commissioners of their clerk, Charles 'Buster' Lewin, in March 2007 has been ruled unfair by the Island's Employment Tribunal.
A written decision says the two parties have accepted Mr Lewin's application to the tribunal on agreed terms, but no further details are given.
In a letter to Middle MHK Martyn Quayle, which has been sent to media representatives, Mr Lewin says a confidentiality clause, insisted upon by the commissioners, prevents him from making any further comment.
However, he adds theere is no "gagging order" to prevent him saying what will happen in the near future.
Mr Lewin says a legal team has been instructed to commence proceedings against Braddan Commissioners, seeking a High Court ruling to prove his dismissal by the local authority was wrongful.
He is also seeking financial damages for "a breach of his contract of employment, together with the loss of pension benefits that he would have received, had he not been unfairly dismissed".
Mr Lewin goes on to say that since his unfair dismissal he has been extremely frustrated that details, and the reasons, have never been made fully public.
He says once they are in the public domain, via his High Court action, ratepayers in Braddan will fully understand why he has no option but to take further legal action against the board.
Mr Lewin (pictured) concludes his letter to Mr Quayle by asking if he would chair a meeting between the two parties, in a bid to find a solution to "the very severe problem the commissioners now find themselves in".
