Banking crisis - Brown to give evidence

by isleofman.com 3rd February 2009
Chief Minister Tony Brown will this morning give evidence to the United Kingdom Treasury select committee investigating the banking crisis.

Today’s session will focus on a number of issues, including the protection of UK citizens investing funds in non-UK jurisdictions, and the impact of deposit protection on consumers and competition.

Mr Brown, chief financial officer Mark Shimmin and chief executive of the Financial Supervision Commission, John Aspden, will give evidence in the Thatcher Room at Portcullis House in London, from 9.45am.

Last week, the Island's High Court granted the Manx Treasury another three weeks to continuing working on its latest repayment scheme for depositors in the collapsed Kaupthing Singer and Friedlander Isle of Man.
