Lively question time expected

by isleofman.com 3rd February 2009
A number of hot, topical issues will be aired during question time in the House of Keys, broadcast live on Manx Radio from 10am today.

There are 20 items for oral answer, and a further six for written reply.

North Douglas MHK Bill Henderson will ask if the chief minister plans to take advantage of the recent departure of the chief executive of the Department of Tourism and Leisure, by merging the DTL and the Department of Trade and Industry.

Another question from Mr Henderson relates to the collapse of Kaupthing Singer and Friedlander Isle of Man.

He wants an update from the Treasury Minister, and will ask about the outcome of a recent visit to Iceland by a Manx delegation.

Public sector pensions will be raised again, with South Douglas MHK Bill Malarkey asking why those of Tynwald members aren't included in the recent review, which has just gone out to public consultation.

Other topics up for discussion include the extension of the runway at Ronaldsway, facilities in the Isle of Man for youngsters, and the Steam Packet's fuel charge adjustment.

After question time, the Social Security Bill is down for its third reading.

Manx Radio's coverage of question time is on our AM frequency, of 1368.
