Saints stunned at the Bowl

by isleofman.com 2nd February 2009
St Mary’s bid for Sure Mobile Premier League glory took a hammering on Saturday as the Saints were hammered at home by Old Boys.

A double from Callum Stewart and one each from Liam Buckley and Sean Gavin sealed a memorable victory at the Bowl.

A superb result for Old Boys who move up to third but a potentially savage blow to the Saints’ title hopes.

In Division Two, Ramsey Youth Centre hit five to continue their fine season.

They were 5-2 home winners over Onchan, courtesy of goals from Ciaran Hughes (two), Andrew Feeney, Harry Power and Mark Grotty.

Malew came from behind to seal a fine 3-1 win at home to Douglas Royal.

Royal led 1-0 at the break but second half goals from Louie Jennings (two) and Paul Whitley secured an impressive victory for the southerners.

There were five goals up north where Douglas and District edged out Northern Athletic.

Anthony Wray and Phil Corkill were the home side’s scorers but goals from Dave McDaid, Craig Cowin and match-winner James McIlhagga secured the points for D&D.
