Davy Knowles keeps his fans guessing

by isleofman.com 2nd February 2009
The frontman of former Isle of Man blues-rock band Back Door Slam is playing his cards close to his chest as far as his future plans are concerned.

In an interview with Manx Radio from his home in Los Angeles, Davy Knowles confirms the surprise split of the group came after much soul searching.

But he is reluctant to say whether he will continue to work under the name Back Door Slam, as is suggested on the group's website, or if he will be recording with any of the big-name musicians he has been working with.

He denies that he, as the frontman, had outgrown the rest of the band, and says all three members will benefit from working with different people.

Davy told Manx Radio:

"I think that's true for us all, which is why the decision was reached.

"Really we wanted to move forward ourselves and everyone explore different musical ambitions, and go off and do their own thing.

"The whole reason for the split is to progress ourselves as individuals and move forward like that, with music.

"(But) I don't think I'm going to go off and play death-metal now, it's definitely going to be blues based."

Davy is currently preparing to record a new album which he hopes to have out in three to six months.
