Braddan finances back on a firm footing

by isleofman.com 2nd February 2009
Rates in Braddan are coming down.

The rate for the forthcoming financial year will be 227p in the pound, a 3 pence reduction from the 2008-09 figure.

The announcement of the new rate is accompanied by a statement from the local authority about its financial situation.

The commissioners say that, following widespread speculation, their finances have returned to a sound financial footing.

The news follows what has been a difficult period, with a substantial deficit incurred in 2007.

The commissioners say there has been a review of the authority's financial management systems and they are confident that many previous failings have now been addressed.
