Lifeboat enthusiasts and supporters in the Isle of Man are raising money for the five Manx RNLI stations today.

The Royal National Lifeboat Institution SOS Day is taking place across the British Isles, and each station's theme is based on the SOS slogan.

The Island's lifeboat stations, along with those in Wales and West Mercia, are hoping to raise a total of ?30,000.

SOS Day is the biggest fundraising day of the year for the RNLI.

Ramsey's station crew "Served Out Sausages" until 1pm, with an exhibition of photographs at the Town Hall.

Port St Mary have also opted to sizzle sausages, by holding a bangers and mash evening at the Yacht Club.

Peel's Lifeboat crew have been talking to schools, and Manx Snowboarder Zoe Gillings is offering her protective clothing from the Winter Olympics to the student who thinks of the most original use of the SOS slogan.

Port Erin is offering people the chance to "See Our Station", from 3pm to 8pm and the Ladies Guild has been "Serving Out Soups" at St Catherine's Hall.

There are also collections at the local branch of Shoprite and the Isle of Man Bank and, on a similar theme, Douglas crew is targetting shoppers with a collection outside Tesco.
