DHSS gets back to normal

by isleofman.com 28th January 2009
A semblance of normality is returning to business at the DHSS.

The ground floor of the Department of Health and Social Security’s Markwell House headquarters in Douglas yesterday re-opened to customers following last week's extensive flooding.

Services are now available for people who receive jobseeker's allowance, income support, family income supplement, incapacity benefit and maternity allowance, while enquiries about state pensions, bereavement benefits, disability benefits, child benefit and national insurance should also be made on the ground floor this week.

The building was forced to close after a water heater pipe burst on the fourth floor, a week ago.

The third floor suffered significant flood damage and is not expected to be back in operation until next week.

Enquiry lines for services are gradually being restored, but if customers experience any difficulties they are asked to ring 685026 or 685656.
