LVP award for Roly Drower

by isleofman.com 27th January 2009
The late satirist, website owner, broadcaster and poet Roly Drower has been honoured.

He has been named the inaugural winner of the Libertarian Vannin award, given to someone who has fought hard to uphold the basic rights and values of the Liberal Vannin Party.

The award, presented at the party’s conference on Sunday, was picked up by his father.

Roly Drower, who was in his 50's, suffered a fatal heart attack last May.

He made international headlines five years ago when he defied legal action by millionaire businessman Albert Gubay about articles published on his 'Manxman' website.

Among those nominated for the award was former Chief Minister Miles Walker for his stance on human rights.
