Brown puts his 'neck on the line'

by isleofman.com 26th January 2009
Chief Minister Tony Brown will experience a different type of Question Time this evening.

Unlike the weekly proceedings in Tynwald and the House of Keys, where initial subjects at least are submitted well in advance, he will be quizzed by members of the public on a range of topics of which he will have no prior knowledge.

The event has been organised by the Positive Action Group whose chairman, Roger Tomlinson, says the fact he has agreed to put his 'neck on the line' is a good indication he is willing to apply his principle of open, accountable government.

Mr Tomlinson is expecting some challenging questions, but says answering them is what being the chief minister is all about (play attached audio file):

This evening's Question Time event will follow the format of the BBC programme, although Mr Brown will be the only panellist.

It will be at the Manx Legion Club, Market Hill, Douglas at 7.30pm.

It's too late to submit questions, but you can ring Roger Tomlinson on 863106 for further information.
