Douglas climb up standings

by isleofman.com 25th January 2009
There was good news for Douglas in South Lancashire/Cheshire Division Two as they dispatched visitors Oswestry 24-16 at Port-e-Chee to move ahead of their opponents in the standings.

Sam Randall touched down for Douglas after just 35 seconds to give them a dream start.

Andy Howell hit back for Oswestry with two penalties before a penalty try was awarded to Douglas on the stroke of half-time.

Bryn Snellgove’s second conversion of the game gave Douglas a 14-6 advantage at the break.

Snellgrove added a penalty early in the second half to stretch the lead before Niall Killey made the game safe with a try, also converted by Snellgrove.

Two late tries for Oswestry from Mike Wilcock and Rob Masson gave Douglas some late jitters but they managed to hold on for the win.
