Benefits office at Prospect House

A temporary benefits office has been set up in Douglas after a DHSS building was flooded yesterday.

A pipe on the fourth floor at Markwell House ruptured causing water to cascade throughout the building.

The temporary office is on the ground floor of Prospect House, next to the Job Centre on Prospect Hill.

It will handle urgent benifit enquiries and will be open from 10.30am to 4.30pm today and tomorrow.

The DHSS Disaster Recovery Plan was put into action for the first time yesterday where staff ensured the safety of sensitive information and telephone hotlines were set up for the public.
