DoT staff remove 17 trees from roads

by isleofman.com 19th January 2009
The Mountain Road remained closed at lunchtime today, because of the treacherous conditions.

Meanwhile, Department of Transport employees are working at various locations on the Island, clearing drains and the like.

Motorists are advised to slow down to ensure the safety of department staff, and themselves.

Department staff are being praised for their work during the storms and high seas which hit the Island on Saturday afternoon.

Works Division employees removed a total of 17 trees which were blocking roads, including two which were preventing the movement of a paramedic and a doctor.

They also diverted traffic away from Douglas Promenade and Shore Road, Gansey, at the height of the storm.

The team then salted the Mountain Road as temperatures dropped to below zero overnight.
