PBs for Gray and Griffiths in York

Darren Gray and Gail Griffiths (pictured) were the pick of a large Manx contingent which took part in the Brass Monkey Half Marathon in York yesterday.

The two Manx Harriers athletes recorded big personal bests, hitting Island Games guideline times in the process.

Darren came home in 10th place overall, clocking an impressive 1:13.58 while Gail finished in 170th overall in a time of 1:28.35.

Other local runners included Barry Moore of the Western AC (1:34.57, 325th), Manx Harriers' Les Brown (1:36.37, 360th), his team mate Justine Bowen (1:50.23, 746th), IOM Vets' Rob Gillanders (1:52.19, 794th), Moira Hall of the Western AC (1:56.35, 884th), Lynne Quine of the IOM Vets (1:59.14, 952nd), Lesley Christian, also of IOM Vets (2:00.07, 970th), Western AC's Geoffrey Hall (2:04.37, 1042th), David Quine of IOM Vets (2:11.36, 1146th) and fellow Vets runners Sue Ackroyd (2:25.51, 1235th), Ingrid Sugden (2:26.49, 1241st) and Maureen Kelly (2:26.49, 1242nd).

There were 1280 finishers in all
