'Lets move on from dogs issue' - Malarkey

by isleofman.com 16th January 2009
Douglas Council should be concentrating on schemes that benefit humans rather than dogs, according to at least two of its members.

During a long debate at the monthly meeting, Councillor Doreen Kinrade said the local authority's time would be better spent discussing provisions for the Island's young people.

Vice-chairman of the Public Works Committee Carol Malarkey (pictured) was also very involved in the discussion.

She says enough time has been spent on walking dogs, and other important issues now need to be examined (play attached audio file):

Councillor Malarkey says she would like to see three or four more dog walking areas allocated, and in use in Douglas, before the end of the year.

She would also have no objection to part of the beach being used, at certain specified times, for the same purpose.
