Future police officers begin training today

Eleven student police officers will be sworn into the Isle of Man Constabulary today.

It marks the start of a 15 week induction course, conducted entirely on the Island at the Winchester Court development centre in Onchan.

The trainee constables will spend two years learning the ropes in classroom sessions and working with Douglas and the other neighbourhood policing teams.

Home Affairs Minister Adrian Earnshaw says it's important for them to build relationships with the Island's communities (play attached audio file):
