Falcons clinch cup success

by isleofman.com 12th January 2009
Falcons clinched the Mixed Hockey Cup in style on Saturday.

A four goal blitz inside the opening 10 minutes set them on their way to a 5-2 triumph over Ramsey A to round off a fine season for the club.

A week after sealing the runners-up spot in the Premier League, they secured silverware of their own.

Zoe Carney, Steve Crowe (two), Kim Carney and a debut goal for Christian Forbes set the party in full swing.

The prolific Ollie Webster netted a double for battling Ramsey in the second half but the cup had long gone.

Harlequins are also celebrating after lifting the Tuftex Trophy.

Second half goals from Peter Nuttall (two) and Pete Godwin fired them to a 3-0 victory over Bacchas D.
There was more drama in the league play-offs.

Phoenix were relegated from the Premier League after going down 2-0 to Valkyrs B, who will now play in the top-flight next season.

Bacchas C have preserved their Division One status after a 1-0 win over Cammags, who now miss out on promotion.

Ramsey Rookies were unable to play their match against Kestrels, meaning they lose their Division Two place at the expense of Kestrels.

And Vandals will play next season in Division Three after a 7-2 thrashing of an understrength Saracens B.

A Dan Jacobs hat-trick, plus two from Dani Kelly and one each from Ewan Heap and Will Blake, means Saracens will contest Division Four next year.
