MHK offers support to Grand Island staff

A Ramsey MHK has offered her sympathy to staff who will be made redundant when the Grand Island Hotel closes next month.

The landmark building will shut its doors on February the ninth with the loss of 18 jobs - economic trading conditions and the increasing costs of operating and maintaining the premises have been cited as the reasons behind the decision.

Anne Craine says the hotel holds fond memories for many generations (audio file attached):
