Clare prepares for a year in Idaho

An Onchan girl is celebrating after winning an opportunity to study at an American university.

Clare Christian has been awarded the Ella Oleson Scholarship, a prize given annually to a female student from the Isle of Man by the Department of Education.

After finishing her degree in history and law at Keele University this summer, Clare (pictured) will spend nine months studying at Idaho University.

She explains how the DoE decides who will receive the scholarship:
