Governor expects a challenging year

The lieutenant governor says the next year will contain challenges, but is confident the Island will be able to overcome them.

In his New Year message, Vice-Admiral Sir Paul Haddacks (pictured) says the last twelve months have been very successful for the Isle of Man.

In particular, he points to the TT and Manx Grand Prix festivals, our growing economy and rising standard of living.

On the credit crunch and global financial turmoil, he is optimistic the Island can weather the storm:
