Shoppers sadden by loss of Woolies

Woolworths in Douglas closed its doors for the very last time yesterday after decades trading in the Isle of Man.

The company with its 850 stores across Britain was hit by the credit crunch, and went into administration earlier this month.

Despite efforts to save the firm, its liquidators were unable to find a buyer.
