'Lacklustre performance' by government

by isleofman.com 29th December 2008
The Celtic League says this Friday's Illiam Dhone commemoration will take place against a backdrop which sees the Isle of Man under attack as never before, by external forces and internal weakness.

Director of Information Bernard Moffatt says there has been a lacklustre performance by the Manx Government in the past 12 months, and banking scandals which, he claims, highlight the short-sightedness of the Island's dependence on finance.

He thinks there will be a lot of criticism when the speeches are made at the ceremony.

Following the wreath laying, the traditional service will be held at Malew Church where Illiam Dhone, described as a Manx martyr and partiot by the league, is buried.

The speeches will be made at Hango Hill, Castletown this Friday, January 2, at 2pm.
