Last day of trading for Woolworths

Today marks the end of the road for a Strand Street institution.

Woolworths will close its doors for the final time this evening, having been a shopping fixture for the Manx public since 1924.

The Douglas branch is part of the second phase of closures, after 200 stores throughout Britain were shut down on Saturday.

Trade and Industry Minister David Cretney hopes to fill the space in Strand Street as quickly as possible:
