Marine Drive rescue described

by isleofman.com 27th December 2008
A Douglas Coastguard member has described the rescue of two people from a car which plunged over the cliffs at Marine Drive last night.

Station Officer David Keggin confirmed the vehicle was about 150ft down, resting on a grass bank below Pigeon Stream.

Earlier today Marine Drive was closed while police officers carried out initial investigations at the scene before the car was pulled up the cliff and towed away.

Mr Keggin says thankfully their operation last night was relatively straightforward: (audio clip attached)

A man who was in the car was unhurt and was able to get himself out before being taken up the cliff.
