Fire crews tackle blaze at Colby house

by isleofman.com 27th December 2008
Residents of a house in Colby had a lucky escape this morning after a candle set fire to their front room.

The Isle of Man Fire Service was called out Ballagawne Road just after seven o' clock to tackle the blaze and brought it under control quickly.

The people living there had managed to get out before officers showed up.

Fire damage was confined to the front room but there was smoke damage throughout the property.

Station Officer Carl Kinvig says you should never leave lit candles unattended and make sure they've been put out properly before going to bed or leaving your home.
