Gillings wins top Olympic award again

by isleofman.com 24th December 2008
Zoe Gillings has won the Olympic Athlete of the Year trophy for snowboarding for the second year running.

It seemingly confirms the 23-year-old from Ronague as Britain's best hope for a medal in snowsports at the Winter Games in Vancouver in 2010.

The awards were introduced in 2005 to mark the British Olympic Association’s Centenary Year and the success of bringing the 2012 games to London.

The BOA presented a trophy to each of the 35 Olympic Governing Bodies for them to award on an annual basis to their top athlete.

Zoe told Edward Oldham it was a great honour to receive the honour once again: (audio clip attached)
