'Casino would really add to Mount Murray'

by isleofman.com 24th December 2008
A casino development at Mount Murray would make the area a complete holiday resort.

That's the view of developer Albert Gubay who has put in a planning application for the facility as well as an aparthotel.

The project would cost in the region of ?45 million and the casino would be built across from the car park for the existing hotel, with the aparthotel opposite.

The application is expected to be looked at by planners in the new year.

Mr Gubay (pictured) says the scheme would really add to the facilities already in place.

He told Manx Radio:

"We've got golf, we've got a health club (but) lacking is evening entertainment, which could be borne out by a casino of the quality and type that we propose to put on here.

"The land is available, it's doing nothing, the aparthotel is immediately beside the hotel, and the beauty about being able to position it there is the fact that half the expenses of building a hotel have already been spent in Mount Murray."
