BBC drops TT over cash row

The BBC is to pull out of covering the TT in a row over money for television rights.

Officials say North One, which took over the film contract for the festival, is asking for too much cash to show its usual highlights package.

The corporation has shown an extended highlights programme for the last three years, and the latest development could add to the political row which erupted when Greenlight TV failed to win the contract this year.

Manx Radio’s sports editor Tim Glover says the BBC had been negotiating to continue its coverage on its mainstream channels:
