Free drinks for designated drivers

Police are hoping free soft drinks will help reduce the number of drink-drivers in the Isle of Man during the holiday period.

Heron and Brearley is offering a free Coke Zero to all designated drivers this Christmas, when their friends buy three other drinks in one of the company's pubs or bars.

It's hoped the initiative will keep drivers sober, so that they can get their friends and themselves home safely.

Inspector Richard Power from the Road Safety Unit is pleased to see the anti-drink drive message has already reached most Manx motorists (audio file attached):
