Emergency treatment advice from DHSS

by isleofman.com 20th December 2008
The DHSS is asking people to think carefully before going to Accident and Emergency for minor injuries and illnesses.

The Manx Emergency Doctors' Service, or MEDS, is also at Noble's Hospital, and operates overnight to provide urgent appointments with a GP.

Clinical leader at MEDS Richard Hanks says patients who want to be treated at home need to prove they can't make it to the hospital.

Meanwhile, Assistant manager of A and E Rachel Clarke warns waiting times there can be long, particularly over Christmas and New Year (play attached audio file):

MEDS runs a helpline (650355), to provide advice and book appointments.
