Minister says CCS approval was vital

'A crucial decision for the future of farming in the Isle of Man' is how Agriculture Minister Phil Gawne describes the approval by Tynwald of the Countryside Care Scheme.

It means farmers, who have received production-based support for decades, will instead be paid for keeping their land in good agricultural order.

Phil Gawne says many challenges remain, but believes it’s time to look ahead with optimism and realism (play attached audio file):
