Tynwald supports monopolies motion

by isleofman.com 19th December 2008
Monopoly providers such as the Steam Packet are to be investigated in a bid to protect the Isle of Man's national interests.

Tynwald unanimously backed the move after the trade and industry minister sucessfully amended Onchan MHK Peter Karran's suggestion the Council of Ministers should create a structure to regulate the User Agreement.

There will be a report back to Tynwald next April.

Mr Karran is heartened by his colleagues’ response (play attached audio file):

Tynwald didn't support a call for a vote of no confidence in the Department of Transport which oversaw the agreement.
