Heavy sentence for heroin dealer

by isleofman.com 18th December 2008
A 39 year-old heroin dealer has been jailed for nine years and six months.

Mark Hynds was found guilty by a jury last month of possessiing the drug with intent to supply.

Hynds, whose address was given as care of the Isle of Man prison, was carrying 132 grammes of heroin when he was arrested in March. He claimed he had found the drugs and was on his way to hand them over to police.

Passing sentence, Deemster Doyle told Hynds that by not pleading guilty when he was, he had lost a third discount on his sentence, and must take the consequences.
