Former Tynwald clerk found guilty

Former Clerk of Tynwald Robert Quayle has been fined and banned from driving after a fatal accident guilty verdict.

He was pulling out of a driveway at the top of the Ballahutchin Hill, just outside Union Mills, when his car collided with a motorbike ridden by 18 year-old Darren Self. Mr Self died in the accident.

Quayle denied driving without due care and attention but was found guilty.

He was banned from driving for nine months, fined ?1,000 and ordered to pay costs.

The accident happened a year ago.
